Mahindra Bolero With New Safety Features To Launch Soon

Mahindra is all set to give its top-selling vehicle, the Bolero SUV a significant upgrade to its safety features. The new Mahindra Bolero with ABS and airbags will be introduced soon to comply with Bharat New Vehicle Safety Assessment Program (BNVSAP) which will kick in from July 2019. Every car sold in India will have to comply with the new norm, which should include features such as ABS, airbags, seat belt warning light, and reverse parking sensors as a standard feature.

According to Moneycontrol, the Mahindra Bolero is the only model in their lineup which does not come with airbags and ABS. Pawan Goenka, managing director, Mahindra & Mahindra, said, "On the crash safety norms, the only product which does not have airbags and ABS in any of the variants is Bolero, and we are working on that right now. That is the only one we will have to upgrade to meet the new crash and safety norms which now comes in July 2019 rather than October 2019, and as of now we do not see any issue in that,"

The Bolero does not currently feature airbags, ABS or reverse parking sensors, by adding these safety features, the Multi Utility Vehicle (MUV) will be a lot safer than before. The MUV is quite popular in the rural market, and now with ABS and airbags, the vehicle is expected to be well received in tier 2 and tier 3 cities in India.

Presently, Mahindra offers central locking, power windows, keyless entry, centre armrest on 2nd-row seats, MP3 player with Bluetooth connectivity, driver information display, wood finish central bezel and rear washer and wiper on the Bolero. With the addition of ABS and airbags to the Bolero, the top-selling MUV in India will be one of the safest Mahindra vehicles.

The Mahindra Bolero is available in sub-4 metre 'Power+' and the regular model. While is the former is powered by a mHawk 1.5-litre diesel engine; the latter draws power from the m2DiCR 2.5-litre diesel unit. The 1.5-litre engine produces 70bhp and 195Nm of torque; the 2.5-litre unit develops 63bhp and 180Nm of torque. Both the engines come paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

Thoughts About The New Mahindra Bolero With ABS & Airbags Finally, Mahindra will add the much-required safety features such as the ABS and airbags, which were lacking in the popular MUV in India. Prices for the new Mahindra Bolero with ABS and airbags is expected to cost Rs 30,000 more than the current model. It's about time every car manufactured in India is equipped with standard features such as ABS, airbags, reverse parking sensors and seat belt reminder.
